Allam Medical Building, Hull
Speedclad delivered a quality design, supply and installation rainscreen cladding package on this new state-of-the-art clinical skills facility, as part of the University of Hull's flagship Health Campus.
The new Allam Medical Building, part-funded by Hull City FC Chairman Assem Allam, forms part of the £28 million Health Campus development at the university. The 5-storey, 70,000 sq ft building will provide specialised medical teaching facilities including a full mock hospital ward simulating a real-life healthcare environment, operating theatre and intensive care nursing facilities. There are also collaborative working areas, an innovative projecting lecture area, meeting rooms, a think pod and extensive atriums.
Speedclad's contract, for Interserve Construction, comprised an aluminium plank rainscreen system with bespoke acoustic planks internally, plus two different types of bespoke light boxes to side-illuminate the panels and provide recessed lighting sections. The finished cladding contributes greatly to tying together the overall impact of the architectural design for the scheme, which in turn relates to the wider £200 million investment programme at the university. Speedclad worked closely with its supply chain partners and client's project team, to ensure that cost and programme requirements could be achieved without compromising on quality and the performance of the facade.
