Speedclad's supply chain takes pole position for charity
As part of its calendar of fundraising activities, Speedclad arranged and hosted a Charity Karting Event for its supply chain members and staff to enjoy an afternoon's racing while raising money for local charities.
The event, at Karting North East in Sunderland, saw 40 racers from a wide cross-section of Speedclad's supply chain, plus 8 Speedclad staff, getting behind the wheel on this impressive 1200m outdoor karting circuit. 24 teams of 2 were randomly selected and went on to compete in 1.5 hours of endurance karting, with a driver change every 15 minutes. The competition rounded off with a BBQ for all and prize giving and plenty of good natured reviews of team driving skills!
The overall winning team on the day was made up of Thomas Snaylam and Nick Seber, both from Performance Technology Group, whilst 2nd place went to Joe Sutcliffe of Speedclad and Jordan Hunt of Nationwide Platforms, with Speedclad's Aston Blake and Nvelope Rainscreen Systems' Peter Clarke taking 3rd. Fastest lap on the day went to Joe Sutcliffe, while Kirsten Boyd from Kingspan Facades scooped the ladies' fastest lap time.
The event was held to raise money for the local charities that Speedclad's staff nominated at the start of the year: Bloodrun EVS, Restarting Hearts in Northallerton and DonMentia. The fundraising total to press from the Karting Event is a fantastic £3,300, with donations still coming in... Our top donators for the event were Leeds consultants Art of Cloud. A huge THANK YOU to all of our suppliers who took part and donated for these brilliant causes!
