Speedclad secures 5th consecutive scheme at Wellington Place
Having successfully completed facade packages on 5, 6 and 10 Wellington Place, and currently on site at 3 Wellington Place, this latest project award represents on-going repeat business for Speedclad with key client, Wates Construction.
Speedclad completed the natural stone rainscreen cladding facade on 10 Wellington Place in 2014 and this was quickly followed with the award of the cladding contract for 6 Wellington Place. We then worked closely with Wates Construction to provide the full integrated facade contract for the cladding and curtain walling for 5 Wellington Place, and subsequently 3 Wellington Place. Speedclad has now secured the facade contract for the latest addition; 7 & 8 Wellington Place.
Our contract includes the design, supply and installation of a natural stone rainscreen system from Alsecco including all parapet cladding, 18,000m2 of curtain walling from APA Systems including the glazing of 3 subsantially impressive atriums, external doors to ground and roof levels including 4 automatic circle doors to the main entrances, plus louvres and all associated items.
7 & 8 Wellington Place will provide 378,000 sq ft of grade A office space, and developer MEPC has recently announced that this will become the Government's new regional hub, making it the biggest ever office pre-let on record in Leeds. Scheduled to open in 2020, the 6,000 public servants set to occupy 7 & 8 Wellington Place will be joining a thriving business community on one of the largest and most prestigious new city centre business quarters in Europe.
Tony Blake, Commercial Director for Speedclad commented: "We are delighted that Speedclad has been appointed by Wates as Facade Contractor for the Wellington Place 7 & 8 scheme. The project will be the fifth on Wellington Place for our Company. Our estimating team has worked with Wates Construction and developer MEPC to bring the scheme to reality. We belive that it is testament to the successful completion of the previous schemes, and the collaborative relationship that we have with Wates, that has put us in this very positive position."
