Speedclad is supporting Macmillan as our Charity of the Year
At our Staff Conference at the start of the year, Speedclad staff nominated Macmillan Cancer Support as our Charity of the Year 2017 and fundraising is already underway.
Under a wider Corporate Social Responsibility strategy, Speedclad is committed to making a sustainable positive impact on the communities in which it operates and society at large. As part of this we have chosen to have a charity, selected by our staff, that we will dedicate the majority of our fundraising activities toward during the year.
Macmillan wants to reach and improve the lives of everyone living with cancer and inspire millions of others to do the same. There are 2.5 million people living with cancer in the UK today, and as more people live longer with their cancer, this is set to grow to 4 million by 2030. Through fundraising and raising awareness, Speedclad wants to help Macmillan in their aim to provide support to everyone who needs it, to help people affected by cancer feel more in control of their lives.
The next fundraising event on our calendar is our Easter Afternoon Tea; we're inviting staff, friends, family, business neighbours, local suppliers etc. to join us at our Northallerton and Birmingham Offices on 13th April 2017 for some early Easter treats baked by our staff and their families.
Also on our fundraising schedule is the Tough Mudder Half event in Yorkshire in July; a team of 10 staff members have already signed up to take part in this gruelling and crazy 5-mile mud and obstacle course from which we will raise a minimum £2,500 for Macmillan. More news on that to come!
