Project Award: West Campus, University of Hull
Vinci Construction has awarded Speedclad the contract for design, installation and management of the cladding facade on this extensive new student residences scheme.
The new West Campus at the university is a £130million scheme developed in partnership between the university and provider of award-winning student accommodation, University Partnerships Programme (UPP). The development will house 1,462 students in single rooms and one-bedroom apartments across 9 blocks, with 478 of the rooms expected to be ready for the new student intake in September 2018 and the remainder ready for the following academic year.
In addition to the accommodation, the scheme will also provide numerous facilities including a cafe, laundry, store and formal indoor and outdoor areas along an urban avenue. West Campus builds on the university's £200-million investment programme to provide an outstanding experience for students and is designed to complement the scale and context of the wider campus and neighbouring buildings.
This is Speedclad's first project with Vinci Construction and the contract, in excess of £3.8million, includes the design and installation of the terracotta, aluminium and Eternit cladding facade with a commencement on site due in early 2018.
