Project Award: Teaching & Learning Hub, Nottingham University
Kier Construction Central has awarded Speedclad the contract for design, supply, installation and management of the cladding façade on this latest addition to University Park.
The new £20 million Teaching and Learning Hub at the university will be positioned in the centre of the campus, adjacent to the award-winning Hallward Library and provide a much-needed boost to the University’s teaching requirements. The new Hub will create a 5,000m2 teaching facility and will include collaborative lecture theatre, performing arts space, differing size teaching rooms, social learning hub and staff offices.
Speedclad’s contract includes 2950m2 of a glazed terracotta tile cladding system from Agrob Buchtal fixed back to cross-laminated timber (CLT) panels, with integrated extruded aluminium fin detail. Design and development is underway, with a start on site for Speedclad this summer.
The scheme’s design, by award-winning architectural practice, Make, is for a beautiful and inspiring building complementing what is widely regarded as one of the most attractive university campuses in the country. The development was commissioned as part of a £500 million capital investment plan for the university which runs from 2014 to 2020 and includes new buildings at University Park, Jubilee Campus and in Sutton Bonington.
