Project Award: Rushden Lakes, Northamptonshire
Speedclad has secured the contract for design, supply and installation of curtain walling and glazing on an exciting new retail, leisure and tourism destination in the Nene Valley.
Key client, Winvic Construction, has awarded Speedclad the contract for curtain walling single glazed shop fronts and bolted glass assemblies on the initial phase of this £140million scheme.
The Rushden Lakes development is promising to deliver a "naturally different" experience. The scheme combines 380,000 sqft of shops, including anchor stores from M&S and House of Fraser, with waterfront restaurants, boathouse and lakeside visitor centre, whilst also restoring public access to the network of lakes and adding water-based facilities for community use. Applications are now also in for further leisure facilities including a 12-screen cinema complex and bowling alley.
The exciting scheme will regenerate a derelict brownfield site on the edge of the A45 whilst creating 1,900 jobs and opening up some of Northamptonshire's beautiful countryside for people to enjoy free of charge.
