Project Award: Godiva Place, Coventry
Galliford Try Construction has awarded Speedclad the contract for design, supply and installation of the cladding on this new city centre student accommodation scheme.
Godiva Place is a £47.5 million student residences development on Lower Ford Street in Coventry, within walking distance of Coventry University's campus. The development will provide 772 beds in mixed studio and cluster accommodaton units and will be housed within 5 blocks ranging from 4 to 9 storeys. In addition, the scheme will provide ancillary support facilities, social hub, car parking, landscaping and improvements to the public realm. The design, by Lewis & Hickey, combines a perimeter block to provide a defined street edge and protect the interior of the site, with a series of finger blocks to maximise daylight into and through the site. The 104 week constuction project is expected to involve c. 800 operatives and is due for completion before the start of the 2018 academic year.
Speedclad's contract includes St. Bees sandstone cladding and perforated aluminium feature panels, plus all associated items. The project is being operated from our Regional Office in Birmingham, with design work already underway and a start on site expected in early summer 2017.
