Project Award: 4 Wellington Place, Leeds
Having successfully completed façade packages on 3, 5, 6 and 10 Wellington Place, and currently on site at 7&8 Wellington Place, this latest project award represents on-going repeat business for Speedclad, with key client Wates Construction.
Speedclad's involvement in Leeds' prestigious business quarter started in 2014 with the cladding contract on 10 Wellington Place. This was swiftly followed by the cladding contract for building 6 and subsequent full façade contracts, incorporating cladding and glazing, on buildings 5 and 3. Speedclad is currently in the construction phase of its façade contract, in excess of £12million, for buildings 7&8 which will be the new regional hub for HMRC, accommodating 6,000 public servants.
Speedclad's works at 4 Wellington Place, in excess of £6million, include the design, supply and installation of natural stone rainscreen cladding, glass rainscreen cladding, polyester powder coated aluminium rainscreen plus copings and trims, curtain walling, glazed and automatic circle doors, glass balustrading and all associated items. The construction phase for Speedclad is expected to commence in Q4 of 2019.
4 Wellington Place is a statement building which will provide 155,793 sq.ft of high quality grade A office and retail space. The 8-storey building will include south facing rooftop terraces, basement parking, ground floor restaurants and cafes and an extensive public realm in keeping with the format of the surrounding buildings and with developer, MEPC's, ethos of creating a business community rather than simply workplaces. There is more information about Wellington Place, and MEPC's masterplan for this business quarter on the MEPC website, where you can also view the time-lapse videos for this latest development: 4 Wellington Place Time Lapse
