Prestigious RICS Award for Feethams Leisure Complex
This town centre leisure development in Darlington, for which Speedclad completed the cladding facade contract, has won the Commercial category at these highly-regarded awards from the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors.
RICS is the world's leading professional body for qualifications and standards in land, property, infrastructure and construction. The RICS Awards are run across several regional awards, the winners of which then go on to compete to win a national award for their category at the RICS Awards Grand Final, set this year for 2nd November.
Feethams Leisure Complex transformed the site of the town's former bus depot into a modern leisure destination, including a multi-screen cinema, 80-bed hotel and a variety of eateries. The complex, designed by local firm Niven Architects, was short-listed at the RICS Awards North East alongside tough competition and was announced as the winner of the Commercial category on 21st April 2017. The judges recognised the scheme for creating a valuable community asset that is boosting the local economy and acting as a catalyst for further regeneration.
Speedclad carried out the design, supply and installation of the Shackerley ceramic granite rainscreen facade on Feethams Leisure Complex, for main contractors McLaughlin & Harvey. The Chairman of the judging panel said of the winning schemes; "The teams behind them should be incredibly proud as they have shown just what is achievable with vision and an innovative approach to collaboration". Congratulations to all involved in Feethams for this fantastic achievement and all the best for the Grand Final!
